About

Colorado Mountain Dogs are a breed in development and they are now recognized by the American Rare Breed Association. Our working Livestock Guardians are a vital part of our farm as they keep our goats, sheep and chickens safe from predators common to our area such as coyotes and raccoons. The breed was developed to provide a mix of the traits common in many livestock guardian dogs such as Great Pyrenees, Anatolian Shepherd, Kuvas and Maremmas to produce the perfect livestock guardians for smaller, urban farms that are more densely populated. The characteristics of this dog are a more family and people friendly dog that greets strangers but still has the ability to protect from predators with more moderation in the barking as a typical LGD. Their beauty is unsurpassed as a majestic and graceful dog with a beautiful mane and calm, gentle, people loving demeanor. Our dogs , Chubbs and Juno , along with our Pyrenees, Huck, are the backbone of protection for our farm. While Huck is 100% Great Pyrenees, Juno and Chubb are 50/50 Great Pyrenees and Anatolian Shepherd with Juno having a dash of Kuvas thrown in.
